The softball post-season banquet was held on Thursday, November 19th for both Varsity and JV players and their families. Following dinner, the JV team was recognized for winning the championship in the Mill Creek JV Softball League where the Lady Warriors competed against mostly 7A teams from Gwinnett and Forsyth counties. The JV Lady Warriors defeated Buford in a close 3-2 game for the league championship fulfilling the biggest goal of the team. The varsity Lady Warriors were recognized for their successful season which included winning the Region 8-AAAAA championship in a tough and talented region, advancing into the state playoffs and making it to the Elite Eight for an amazing 8th straight year! Following team awards, including 15 sophomore, junior and senior scholar-athlete awards, region awards were presented as well. Those included: Jenna Yeary - Honorable Mention / Cassie Boatright and Kennedy Votava - Second Team All-Region / Trinity Aycock, Kaitlyn Johnson and Grayson Perry - First Team All-Region / Nova Wright - Region Player of the Year / Emily Byers - Region Pitcher of the Year. Following awards, the evening was completed with a video presentation recapping the season highlights and honoring the 5 seniors. Way to go Lady Warriors! Already looking forward to next year!
College Signings
The ceremonial signing day for senior players who previously verbally committed to play in college was held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in the school cafeteria. Congratulations to those players for all of the hard work put in over the years to achieve this accomplishment! Those signing included Trinity Aycock (Young Harris College), Emily Byers (Georgia College and State University), Grayson Perry (North Georgia Collge) and Kennedy Votava (Piedmont College). Congratulations ladies!!! We are Warrior proud of you!!!

The Walnut Grove Lady Warriors season came to an end in Round Three (Elite Eight) of the state 5A playoffs.
The Lady Warriors enjoyed a successful 24-11 season including their first Region title since 2015. Congratulations to the Senior Lady Warriors and the completion of a successful 4 year career that included 4 appearances in the Elite Eight and one Region title. We wish them well as they continue on to the next chapter of their lives. Thanks to all of the players for their effort and passion for the game. We already look forward to watching the remaining Lady Warriors as they continue the tradition of excellence that is Walnut Grove Lady Warriors Softball.

Two 7th inning homers by Cassie Boatright (to tie the game) and Grace Folds (to take the lead) are the difference and propel the Warriors into the next round. This will be the Lady Warriors 8th consecutive appearance in the Elite Eight.

Lady Warriors Clinch 2020 Region 8-AAAAA Championship With Victory Over Loganville
The Walnut Grove Lady Warriors completed a series sweep of cross-town and Region 8-AAAAA rival Loganville during a double-header at Loganville High School on Thursday night, October 8th, to clinch the 2020 Region 8-AAAAA championship title. The Warriors clinched the title with a 3 -2 win in Game 1 of the double-header by coming from behind in dramatic fashion in their last at-bat in the 7th inning. The winning rally began with the Lady Warriors down to their final out of the game. After holding Loganville scoreless in the bottom half of the 7th to complete the victory, Walnut Grove went on to win game 2 of the double-header by a score of 11 - 6. The Warriors pounded out a combined 25 hits during both games. Round One of the Georgia State Playoffs will be held on October 19th and 20th. The Warriors will host a yet-to-be-determined opponent during the first round games.
